Updating report
If the story is updated we make it a practice to put comments in the stories. It is important that we use corrections, explanations or editor’s notes to inform readers when we are editing a story to correct any significant mistakes or to include comments, updates from stakeholders. If an error occurs in our fact-checking (which is done in accordance with our fact-checking policy available in [“Fact-checking policy”] and once it comes to our notice, we update the article accordingly and at the top. In the article, we refer to the bold “[Improvement: Update information …]” and explain the improvements made. Corrections
If we are making significant improvements to an article, photo caption, headline, graphic, video or other material, we will immediately publish the correction explaining the need for that change.
Clarification
When our journalism is factually correct but the language we use to explain those facts is not as clear or detailed, the language is rewritten and clarification is added to the story. Explanations are also used if we initially failed to find comments or feedback added to the story or if new reporting has changed our account of the incident.
Editor notes
